Mr. Laperle began his martial arts career in June 1995.  In January 1999 he received his black belt and was promoted to 2nd Dan in February 2001.  In September 2003 Mr. Laperle was promoted to 3rd Dan. Mr. Laperle is a former  EMT, a First Aid & CPR instructor.  Most recently, Mr. Laperle earned his 4th Dan Master belt in October 2007.

In 1983 he was honored with the George J Racine Sr. Humanitarian Award by the Killingly Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and served on the Killingly Town Council. He served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958 and is a past chief of K-B Ambulance Corps and is a retired member of Danielson Fire Dept.  Mr. Laperle retired with 30 years from the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 777 of CT and taught welding for more than 15 years.  He is a past Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus for St. James Council #2883 of Danielson, and is a current member of Danielson Lodge of Elks #1706. 

In April 2005, he was awarded the Citizen of the Year award by the Elks Lodge for his continued charity work over the years.  Mr. Laperle is a former student of the year for 1997.  He is also Federation Zone student of the year for 1997 which encompasses the schools in this area.  Mr. Laperle is also the Cheezic Federation student of the year for 1997 which encompasses all schools and all students of the Cheezic federation world wide.  This award is the highest honor that can be bestowed on any member of our federation and indicates that Mr. Laperle was considered the #1 student out of the thousands of students in our federation by Grandmaster Cheezic.  In 1999, Mr. Laperle competed with the USA Karate Team in Bermuda in 1999, and in 2000 in Australia.
