Instructor:
3rd Dan Nancy Coutu (Black Belt #1425)

Our very own Mrs. Coutu was the topic of a great article in the internationally published Journal of Longevity (2006, Vol.12 / No.1, pp. 55-56)!!  Click here to read all about it!

Mrs. Coutu began her martial arts career in Jan. 2000, receiving the Student of the Year Award for both DMAA and Cheezic Tang Soo Do Zone 3 that very same year. Although Mrs. Coutu earned her DMAA Teaching Certificate in the DMAA's first instructor's course in December 2002, teaching is not new to her. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education from UConn and her Masters Degree in Education from Eastern Connecticut State University. Mrs. Coutu puts these degrees to good use as a teacher at Plainfield Central School, where she has worked for the last 34 years.

In September of 2003, she earned her 1st Dan. In September 2005, she was promoted to 2nd Dan, and earned her 3rd Dan in September of 2008. Mrs. Coutu is an active member of the Demo Team, and is the longest running member of the DMAA weapons class. In tournaments, she has consistently placed in all categories.

As an advocate for helping the community, Mrs. Coutu is a yearly participant in St. Jude's Children's Hospital Kick-a-Thon Fundraiser. In the November 2003 issue of "From the Top" (the official newsletter of the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation) Mrs. Coutu was cited by Grandmaster Cheezic as a "Student to Watch."
